On Friday 9th May, the Cubs hosted a Car Park Party to celebrate & commemorate the 80th Anniversary of VE Day.
All sections were invited and we had a great turn out, with just under 40 young people and a further 20 adults.
A huge thank you goes out to all the parents/guardians/young people who prepared cakes and sweet treats for us, and to all those who provided enough sharing bags of crisps to fill everyone!
Scout HQ said the following:
“2025 marks 80 years since the first Victory in Europe (VE) Day on 8 May 1945.
VE Day celebrated the end of the Second World War in Europe and the return of peace to our continent. This year, we’ll remember the sacrifices made by our servicemen and servicewomen and honour the freedom they helped secure.
We’ll also remember the 450,000 people from the UK who lost their lives in the war, including 70,000 civilians, as well as the millions more across Europe and the world.”
