On 27th July 2026, some of our Beavers and Cubs enjoyed an unforgettable day at MiniWINGS, taking part in a fantastic range of activities that combined adventure, learning, creativity and, most importantly, fun!
One of the highlights of the day was visiting our Scout unit to see how their camp was set up and hear all about the exciting activities they had been enjoying during their stay. It gave our younger members a great insight into the adventures that await them as they move through the sections.
Throughout the day, everyone embraced new challenges. Under expert supervision, the Beavers and Cubs learned how to throw tomahawks safely and put their aim to the test during the archery sessions. Of course, the leaders couldn’t resist having a go too… let’s just say the targets were relieved when it was their turn to stop! Thankfully, our Beavers and Cubs proved they have far more natural talent!!
The bouncy castles were, as always, a huge hit, providing plenty of opportunities to burn off energy and have fun with friends. The climbing activity encouraged everyone to step outside their comfort zones, building confidence, resilience and problem-solving skills along the way.
A visit to the camp shop gave everyone the chance to choose a souvenir while practising sensible spending and decision-making. The adventure continued with survival skills, where the Beavers and Cubs learned practical outdoor techniques before working together to complete the challenge of building a campfire using a tealight.
Creative arts and crafts offered a chance to slow the pace, allowing everyone to express their imagination and take home a unique memento of the day.
It was wonderful to see so much enthusiasm, teamwork and encouragement throughout every activity. Our Beavers and Cubs represented 1st Cippenham brilliantly, supporting one another, trying new experiences and creating memories that will last for years to come.
