The 110th Cub Camp got off to a fantastic start on Friday evening, with over 60 Cubs arriving and setting up/ settling into camp. The evening finished around the campfire, complete with toasted s’mores — and, inevitably, a few sticky fingers and chocolate-covered faces!
After a good night’s sleep (for some!), Saturday brought a brilliant range of activities, including the traverse wall, bottle rockets, fire lighting, soft archery, axe throwing and crafts. There was plenty to keep everyone busy, with Cubs throwing themselves into each activity with enthusiasm. The Cubs also took part in a stag hunt — although, despite their best efforts, the stag proved to be particularly good at hiding and was never found! Saturday evening was time to swap the activity bases for the dance floor, with party music and games keeping everyone entertained. The Cubs showed off some impressive — and occasionally questionable — dance moves!
A huge thank you to the District Team for putting on such a fantastic event. We’d also like to say a special thank you to Benjamin Kennedy-May (1st Cippenham Scout Leader) and 1st Cippenham Scouts — Ava, Loga, Julia, Timothy, Elizabeth and Teddy — for providing hearty meals and keeping everyone well fed throughout the weekend. Feeding a camp full of hungry Cubs and Leaders is no small achievement!
And, of course, a massive thank you to everyone working behind the scenes to make the weekend happen. From the planning and preparation to setting up, organising, supporting activities, sorting equipment and all the countless jobs that often go unnoticed — your hard work made a huge difference.
It was a brilliant weekend of fun, adventure, friendship and plenty of memorable moments — including one very elusive stag!
