Even when confined to a wheelchair, old soldiers can still carry out their drill movements on parade.
AT EASE! – Sit bent over, hands across knees
ATTEN – SHON! – Sit straight up, hands at your sides (on wheels)
QUICK – MARCH! – Push both hands forward and repeat, all in time (you could grunt in time perhaps)
HALT! – Grab both wheels hard – and screech (tyres on road)
LEFT – WHEEL! – Hold left hand still, push hard on right
RIGHT – WHEEL! – Hold right hand still, push hard on left
FOR – WARD! – Both hands in unison again after left wheel / right
EYES – RIGHT! – Turn head right and salute with right hand. Use left hand to push alternate wheels to keep chair going straight on
EYES – LEFT! – Turn head left and salute with left hand. Use right hand to push alternate wheels to keep chair going straight on
This should be enough – we can’t expect Pensioners to DOUBLE MARCH!
